Listen very carefully, I have a cunning plan. Herein I present the itinerary for my 363 mile round trip, to take in three games of Association Football, in the space of 24 hours this coming weekend.
It goes like this: Drive to Nottingham from East Retford upon Idle. Take the coach to from Nottingham (Broadmarsh) to Birmingham (Digbeth), late on Friday afternoon. Where I will attend the Championship fixture between Blues and Ipswich Town which kicks off at 8pm.
Once that season opening game is finished, I’ll stroll leisurely to Digbeth Coach Station and catch the overnight sleeper-service to London Victoria via Heathrow). I’ll then travel across London during Saturday morning, from Victoria to Charlton Station, before walking the short distance to the Valley to watch Charlton Athletic v Watford, another Championship game, which kicks off at 12.30pm.
Afterwards, I’ll hop on a northbound train from Charlton and change at London Bridge for Finsbury Park, which is just ten minutes away from Ashburton Grove (Emirates Stadium), where I’ll take in the 5pm Arsenal v Athletic Club (Bilbao), Emirates Cup game. After that, I’ll get the tube to Kings Cross/St. Pancras to connect with an EMR train back to Nottingham, then drive home. Simples.
